Wirtgen Group at Intermat 2009: inspiring innovations from the complete product range of “Road and Mineral Technologies”

The Wirtgen Group of companies and its four core brands will present themselves on an exhibition space of almost 2,200 square metres on stand 2 B 011 in Hall 2. The stand size has been increased by 10%. Comprising around 35 machines, plants and milling drum units from Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann and the system partners Betek and Streumaster, the range of exhibits includes eight pioneering innovations for road construction, road rehabilitation and the processing of mineral raw materials.

The solutions and technologies from the Wirtgen Group chosen for exhibition at Intermat will continue to enable clients from the construction industry to complete their projects with a high degree of cost-efficiency, quality and precision in a very tough competitive environment.

Market leader Wirtgen focuses on highlights from four product divisions

An outstanding new development in the cold milling machine division at Wirtgen GmbH is the most modern large milling machine worldwide, the W 150 featuring the WIDRIVE machine control system which contributes to a substantial reduction in operating costs. WIDRIVE intelligently networks the major functions of the machine. For customers, the WIDRIVE system is an asset because it lowers diesel consumption rates and increases daily production rates. Useful automated functions implemented in the WIDRIVE system ensure a favourable overall environmental balance and considerably improve operator comfort.

In cold recycling, Wirtgen will present a highlight with new technical features: The mobile WLB 10 S and the optional WLM 30 twin-shaft compulsory mixer are two innovative, laboratory-scale testing plants that enable mix designs using foamed bitumen to be carried out with maximum precision thanks to a comprehensive range of settings.

A new product for soil stabilization is the WS 250 tractor-towed stabilizer from Wirtgen, which mixes lime and cement homogeneously into the existing soil. In this product, Wirtgen's comprehensive experience is pooled into a compact, cost-efficient attachment unit for economical use on small and large construction sites that impresses with tried-and-tested Wirtgen milling and mixing technology.

Being the ideal complement to the comprehensive range of the ten Wirtgen stabilizers and recyclers, system partner Streumaster will present the high-performance SW 12 SC binding agent spreader mounted on the Crocodile carrier vehicle. This spreader model features excellent off-road mobility and has been specially developed for difficult ground conditions.

In the slipform paver division, Wirtgen will present the compact and highly manoeuvrable SP 150, a special offset machine which paves a broad variety of monolithic profiles in offset application, such as safety barriers, water gutters and canals, and is very popular in France.

Joseph Vögele AG: world market leader offering a complete product portfolio

Market leader Vögele will present six machines from their innovative range of wheeled and tracked road pavers, equipped with different types of paving screeds, to the trade public in Paris. Selected candidates from the full performance range will be presenting themselves at Intermat, including the small paver SUPER 800, the compact pavers SUPER 1300-2 and SUPER 1103-2, the SUPER 1800-2 both as a standard road paver and as a spray paver equipped with SprayJet module, as well as the high-performance SUPER 2100-2.

A highlight will be the SUPER 1800-2 tracked paver model which, beyond the standard design presented, is offered for a special field of application. Expanding the conventional paver by the SprayJet module produces a state-of-the-art spray paver which enables bitumen emulsion to be sprayed and the asphalt surface course to be paved nearly simultaneously in one single working pass. The spray paver is the ideal candidate in particular for paving thin layers in hot application on a tack coat.

In standard design, the SUPER 1800-2 with SprayJet module is offered with a working width of 5 m and a tank capacity of 2,000 l. An additional tank module is available for applications requiring particularly large quantities of emulsion to be applied. The optional module offers an additional tank capacity of 5,000 l, thus providing a total quantity of 7,000 l of emulsion for the paving operation.

Hamm AG: great performance with new product launches

Exhibition highlights presented by Hamm AG are the heavy HD+ type tandem rollers. The roller manufacturer will present two models of this series. The two 12-ton and 14-ton tandem rollers, which are an entirely new development, impress with unique visibility, extreme ease of operation and outstanding performance characteristics. An innovative articulation offers improved driving stability and ensures increased quality when compacting in bends. The rollers score extra marks also in productivity: Their water tank has a capacity of 1,200 l, enabling them to continue working for a full shift without having to stop for refilling.

A novelty will also be presented in the compact machine range: Hamm will show the HD 14 TT, a new 4-ton pneumatic-tyred roller of the CompactLine, at a trade fair for the first time. This roller model offers the driver a workplace of perfect ergonomic design and impresses in operation with an excellent view, driving convenience, manoeuvrability, agility and high productivity.

The DV 65 will be the third new product presented by the compaction specialist. This roller of the DV series, which features all-wheel steering and an operating weight of 7 tons, completes the line of multiple award-winning tandem rollers with panoramic cabin and design. Through modifications in the operating concept, Hamm has optimized this roller with a view to machine rental and construction companies with frequently changing machine crews.

Hamm will present innovations also in measuring and documentation technology. The Asphalt Navigator from Hamm counts the number of passes and measures the asphalt temperature to develop a “priority map”, which the roller driver can use to see where to compact next. In this way, Hamm ensures perfectly and homogeneously compacted areas and the highest quality in asphalt compaction.

Kleemann GmbH shows two models from the MOBIREX series

The Mineral Technologies division will also present its products on the exhibition stand: Kleemann GmbH will exhibit the MR 130 Z and MR 100 Z mobile impact crushers. Both crusher models are typical representatives of the two major applications of recycling and natural stone processing. With their tried-and-tested crusher technology and active double-deck pre-screens, they stand for efficient machine operation and superior quality of the end product.

The MR 100 Z is a mobile impact crusher with a broad range of applications, eminently suitable as primary crusher for limestone, demolition waste and demolished concrete. Its high crushing capacity is increased even further by the active double-deck pre-screen which, in combination with the plant’s low weight, ensures flexible and highly economical operation even with small quantities of material to be crushed.

The MR 130 Z is a flexible and extremely powerful impact crusher. Adjustable rotor speed and convenient impact hammer adjustment enable an end product of high quality to be produced even when processing frequently changing or inhomogeneous feed material. These features permit limestone, reinforced concrete, bricks or asphalt to be processed to high-quality final aggregate fractions.

Wirtgen France: best business year ever in the company history

The Wirtgen Group is represented in France by an own sales and service company, Wirtgen France, which is headquartered in Goussainville. Wirtgen France markets all four of the Wirtgen Group’s core brands. Around 70 employees are working in the team of subsidiary manager Jean-Pierre Wimmer who was able to achieve the most successful business year of Wirtgen France in 2008 with an increase of around 7% compared to the previous year. The integration of Kleemann into the sales portfolio of the Wirtgen Group’s subsidiary in France promises additional potential for growth in the future.

The company’s headquarters near Paris have recently been expanded and are now offering larger sales premises, a more spacious workshop, as well as an expanded parts store and new training rooms for customer trainings on a total built-up floor space of around 3,000 square metres.

Wirtgen France is a strong local partner, and is present with several service centres offering reliable on-site service, excellent parts service and professional applications consulting to their Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm and Kleemann customers in all parts of France. In addition to Goussainville, offices in Molsheim/Alsace and Mions/Lyon are serving the French customers. An additional service centre in the southwest of France is in the planning stage.
