Slipform pavers keep on track.

Automatic levelling system from Wirtgen

Producing profiles of maximum accuracy is of utmost importance in both asphalt paving and concrete paving operations. The automatic levelling system from Wirtgen enables maximum precision to be achieved in all paving situations – regardless of requirements or conditions prevailing on the job site.

Paving with pin-point accuracy

Wirtgen levelling systems enable monolithic profiles and concrete slabs to be paved with pin-point accuracy. The automatic levelling system ensures that the paving height of the concrete profile to be produced is adhered to automatically and with maximum precision in relation to a reference surface. The system determines the current position of the paving mould and thus the concrete profile. Deviations in height, inclination or direction are corrected immediately.

Highly flexible system

Different sensors can be connected to the automatic levelling system from Wirtgen, such as a transducing sensor, slope sensor, slab tracer or wireless control system. The type of sensor used depends on the requirements prevailing on the job site.

Wireless control

Prisms installed on the slipform paver are located by one total station each. The total station keeps determining the prism’s current position. The measured results are then transmitted by radio to the system’s computer on the paver. A slope sensor integrated in the machine additionally determines the paver’s longitudinal and cross slope. The system computer uses these data to calculate the machine’s actual position and direction of travel. The results are then reconciled with a previously created digital terrain model of the profile or surface to be produced. Deviations are corrected immediately by the automatic levelling system.
